Awesome in the form of updates and a blog is in store for you, my loyal visitors ... So don't delay, read away!
One new page of photos was added to the Photography section, 'cleverly' entitled Seagulls Chilling. Click on over and you'll find out why it's such a 'clever' title. o_O;
I reorganised and updated the Fantastic Online Stores page with several new store links that will, quite frankly, put you in the mood for a strenuous credit card workout. Feel that plastic burn!
To the Listed At page, I added five new sites --- The Honey Lion Directory, the I Created Disco Directory, the Miss Murder Directory, ((I'm loving the monochrome/skulls layout,)) The Avondale KLR Directory, and the Piggy Directory. ^^
On an unfortunate note, an Affiliate clean out was in order, as a large percentage of my Affiliate's sites were either extremely inactive, dead, or just plain gone. I'm not exactly sure how many Affiliates I removed, but it was quite a few! It always saddens me when people just up and leave their sites, never to be seen again ... ;_; ((Unless your name is Rhiannon, of course! In that case I would simply snicker to myself.))
But fortunately, this loss is balanced out due to the addition of several new Affiliates! ^^ Go on and give Asterid Starr, Georgina, Heather, Kitty, Nathan, Yasmin, and Yesenia a visit!
And in other semi update news, I've been working on a new layout for mallorymaloney.com these past few days! It's coming along pretty good so far, but since it's still in the 'rough delineation' stage, there's no telling when it'll be ready for uploading --- So don't start hitting those F5 keys just yet, kiddies. e_e;
Now that we've got those updates out of the way, I think it's time for that dose of awesome in the form of a blog I promised earlier!
Right, so the other week I was in the floral section of the local Metro grocery store, with the goal in mind to buy a bouquet of flowers for my Mum's birthday. The thing is, I hadn't purchased a bouquet of flowers before, so I wasn't too sure what the procedure was. >_>; Was I supposed to ask an employee for help? Was I just to charge in and grab whatever I wanted out of the cooler, like I was picking out a carton of ice cream?
Feeling mystified, I decided to just wing it and ask for assistance. I looked around for a floral department employee, and found a rather large woman kneeling behind the checkout counter. She appeared to be cleaning the shelves under said counter, getting rid of ancient Tim Hortons cups, discarded scraps of paper, broken paper clips, and the like.
'Excuse me,' I said, 'Could I have some help choosing a bouquet of flowers ...?'
The portly but friendly looking woman looked up and glanced my way. 'Why, no problem at all, hon ... Just a moment. Beth!' She called over her shoulder. 'Beth, would you come and help this young lady for just a moment?'
She paused long enough for me to reflect on the fact that I was about the furthest thing from a young 'lady' as a female can get, then continued on her spiel.
'I'm sorry for calling you all the way over here, Beth, but by the time I'm able to get up, this young lady will have turned eighteen!'
At this, a whoop of hysterical laughter burst out of me.
I probably sounded completely insane to anyone within earshot, and with good reason. What could possibly be that funny about such a small quip? Well, gee, I don't know ... Perhaps the fact that I'm nearly twenty two years old?!
Thankfully, though, by the time Beth made her way over to the flower coolers, I had managed to click my hysterics down a notch ... So I was able to ask her if I was to simply pick out a bouquet myself, or get an employee to handle the task. She told me that I could take a bouquet out myself if I wanted, but it didn't really matter either way.
In conclusion, I got two lovely nuggets of information out of that day: One being that you can treat an in grocery floral shop like the rest of the grocery store ... And the other being that most people truly think I'm no older than fifteen or so. o_o;
Fine by me, though! Along with looking like a kid, I certainly don't feel or act like I'm approaching my mid twenties, and I have no intentions to do so anytime soon. o_o I mean, how boring would a Mallory who acts her age be?! Just think about it for a moment.
;She watches without surprise as several reader's heads explode, like a ripe watermelon dropped on the ground.;
Yeah. Exactly. >_>;

Seagulls chilling XD My Mutti bought me a seagull from her holiday. That is such a darn coinkydink. I would go and look at the new online stores you've added, but I don't trust myself. I'll end up spending money I don't have and that's not good at all @_@ I need to save as much as I can if I want to visit Jenni in Scotland.
MISS MURDER DIRECTORY!? Hohhhh, sorry. It reminds me of AFI. I might attempt to list my bloglet there.
It's sad to hear that you had an affiliates cleanout, but at the same time I'm not worried cause -- as you know -- SGL is updated every day (or every other day if I'm extremely busy) so I won't be deleted any time soon. And I'm cool so..... Ok, that last bit was a lie.
Oh my goodness -- a new layout!?! I'm far too excited about this! *waits avidly at computer until eyes go square and all my brain cells fry*
Hahahahaa that grocery store anecdote was hilarious, Moo! I laughed myself silly at the fat woman on the flo'. I don't ever think of you as being 21 you know. I always imagine you to be my age (17). I know that's pretty rude of me, but you're just on my wavelength and that's a good thing. Get this: You're older than my brother Liam -- he's only 20. How awkward is that!? That only just occured to me and now I probably have to go and drown myself because it scares me so much.
Nice to see an update so quickly after the last one, gorgeous.
LOOOOOOOOOOOVE and biscuits.
-- Kayleighhhhh x
I have the same problem with people thinking I'm younger than I am, but while it's a little on the irritating side now, it's going to be excellent when I'm forty and still look like I'm in my twenties.
And like you, I don't feel as if I'm approaching old age, so it's only fitting that I don't look as if I'm getting on. Haha.
Hey Hun! I so don't even bother with the whole "Affiliate/Sisters" thing anymore. People seem to only care about hits... instead I do "Friend's" type lists. Then again, as of lately, I haven't had the time to be social online, let alone in real life. LOL
Can't wait to see the new theme for MM! Your themes always are so great to me. SO plain, but just enough to be awesome. You don't need overly designed layouts to be fucking epic!
LMAO! That silly women calling you an youngin' is just insane. I mean, I can see it, you look young, but silly silly women.
Awe! Isn't it good to be a bit younger though? Heh, heh. Maybe not - I mean, I'm a midget and I absolutely hated it when people would not take my word that I was in my final year of high school. Bitch family friend came along and immediately assumed I was the same age as her daughter - three whole years younger than me. Pathetically embarrassing.
But, well, admittedly, I am a kid at heart. Heh. XD
At least you were treated nicely! I find shopkeepers very rude sometimes.
Hey, what happened to Rhiannon by the way? Her site just... disappeared when she said she was just going for vacation... O-o
F5! Wootie patootie; can't wait for the new layout. :D :D
Reply From Mallory:
Rhiannon closed Petshopgirls Reviews after a big explosion of eDrama her, I, and Nellie of http://www.choleric.nu/ had back in October.
In my opinion, there's no way the sudden closure of her site was unrelated, (('Overseas vacation' my ass,)) As I'm quite certain she had been planning this 'eDrama explosion' for quite awhile. =_=; I have no solid proof of this, though, only a strong suspicion.
There's a bit of the drama in mallorymaloney.com's October archives, and there's also a thread about her disappearance on the Snark Forums:
http://www.snarkforums.com/index.php?topic=7642.0
IMO, she went all chickenshit and 'left teh Intarbuttz'. o_O Although it's possible she's still active online, but with a new site under a fake name.
But again, this is all speculation, I'm afraid!
I've never bought flowers before either, so I had not considered the procedure before...I probably would have wondered around the store until I saw another, more educated customer, and gone with whatever they did. XD
And I feel ya on the age thing. o_o; Frequently at work, people seem to think that I'm too young to have graduated high school, or even be working. XD They also seem to think that I haven't been working long, simply because I'm friendly and smile a lot; heaven forbid that a cashier be friendly. XD Even though I've been working there for about eight and a half months.
I can't wait to see your new layout! :D
Thanks for the comment on my layout, tis appreciated (: It's from the anime Mamotte! Lollipop. xD
LOL, the seagull photos are so cool! Seagulls always chase me at lunchtime for some reason :(
And YAY! New layout, I can't wait to see it cos your layouts are always aweshummmm! =D
LOLOLOL xD The story about the shop/flowers/age/thing made me laugh! Lol tis rather funny.
from kathryn(:
Thanks for the random hearts xD
Thanks so much for emailing me about the stoopud cutenews thing (fixing it as we speak... hopefully it'll work, haha!). And for the luck. Ahh, I need it.
Lmao, that's hilarious because recently this bunch of kids, younger than me, think I'm about thirteen. Being 17, I'm not sure how to find it. Ah well, at least when we're 50, we'll look 30, right? That's brilliant! Haha. But yeah, in the Air Cadets I recently joined... everyone in charge of me is YOUNGER than me. Or my age. And I'm like wtf? Haha. Yeah, and they all think I'm 13. YAY. I can be immature and not look as weird as normal! :P
I like flowers.
You know, for all the talk about flowers, and all the vigorous steps you took to acheive your bouquet. You could of atleast have taken a picture :P. Just sayin.
Tell your mom I said Happy 25th Birthday ;), or not xD
A new site layout already!?!?, im still new to this one!
And if i don't shave people think i'm about 18-22 (im 17) but im about as child as a 4 year old listening to the Slim Shady LP for the first time!
Hurray for new affies! ;] And a new layout?!
I'm definitely excited to see it.
Ahaha... Wow. I'm with you on the looking younger thing. My 15 year old sister and 13 year old brother are often mistake for being my elders, while I'm nearly 18! But like you, I don't mind. If anything it's a compliment! :D
Happy birthday to your Mom!
Huh, weird! Where in Canada are you... The west side?
Maybe we got hit by the same storm!
Ah, yeah. Most people are the opposite like me. I'm just bizarre, I suppose. I get cold and hot easily, but I enjoy the cold. I love cuddling up and feeling that shock when you step outside. Ahhh, heaven!
And I've DEFINITELY considered moving somewhere like Forks (which is a real town with truly that much rain). I'm actually hoping to live in the Pacific Northwest (Northern CA, Oregon, & Washington) in a few years. That would be amazing. Either that, or Colorado. :)
I know, I think he was a bit jealous, but I would have preferred if he came and told me privately, instead of telling everyone around our area
Good luck with the new layout! :D Aw, stuff like that happens to me too.I look nothing like my age because I'm super small :P I can go to Swiss Chalet and still get the kids menus because they think I'm under 12 XP It's good you got help with the flowers in the end though!
Awww...haha. I'm sort of the opposite. People always guess that I'm older than I actually am, which I guess is okay because it means I look "mature" but...I hope I don't look older than I am in like ten years from now when I'll be trying to retain my youthfulness!
I love your stories so very much-- haha. I think almost even funnier than the age thing is the fact that she made a joke about her largeness!
"'I'm sorry for calling you all the way over here, Beth, but by the time I'm able to get up, this young lady will have turned eighteen!'"
Ahahahaha. Oh such an ordinary story, but just wonderful.
So do you get carded for alcohol a lot?!
-M.
nia doesnt blog anymore for some reason haha so the blog is basically mine!
thankyou so much for your kind comment! i love your site the css and the colours work so well together the pictures i just fell inlove with them! they were prefect for my layout emma is a fantastic model DO MORE PHOTOSHOOTS like that! haha
That's... pretty deep. I had no idea. It's a bit funny though :S
Peh, speculation is good! I think though... I would recognise her if she was under a fake name. I read the topic on Snark forums. *nods* Heavy, heavy stuff.
I mean, numerous times I have been involved in e-drama... sigh. All of a sudden I had a thought that she probably went depressed and did the big S. :/
hahahah yeah, people tend to think i'm about 14 or 15, which is fairly sucky as i will be 17 in two weeks!
what would confuse me more is not how you PICK OUT the flowers, but how you PAY for them!? do you take them to the checkout people and just shove them down the conveyor belt, or is there some special flower thing to do?! UGH!
thanks for the compliments! i'm all smiley :)
i'll be your affie if you're looking for some more! i think mine have all forgotten about me, haha.
Hey, the reason I've not been about is I'm really ill and have been told bed rest. So, seeing as my computer is downstairs... lol. Still ill now as it happens and waiting to see a consultant. I'm sorry that being ill has made be inactive and lose contact, I'd still like to be affiliates with you but until I'm well I don't know when I'll be blogging actively again - not my fault.
I'll re-submit my application.
Aww thanks! :D
Yeah, at first it was SO difficult I swear I almost came to tears pathetic I know! Lmfa0
But I'm happy I installed it, it's pretty straight forward kinda like CPanel! :D
Speaking of new lays, can't wait to see yours! :D
And I agree on the whole site thing, it's sad that people shut down their sites or just leaves it. :/
Lmao, to be honest Mallory. You don't look a day over 18 XD; im not surprised she said that. LMAO i LOL'd at the thought of you trying to pick out your own bouqet of flowers... no chance ! :P Im glad to see im still actively linked in your affiliates, even though I was probably the most inactive at one point. AWESOME. And i suggest you should show me a sneak preview of this new layout you're on about! ;) ;) What is it, like version three thousand and eighty seven?
Anyways just dropping by, as usual. :) How you doing girl? Anything happening this weekend? I'm going to a football presentation and wearing a DRESS. I was 9 last time Iwore one. I like it though! My mum opened the curtain of the dressing room to show my dad the dress and a load of girls turned round. She then very un-embarassingly said THE BOYS WONT KNOW WHERE TO LOOK WITH YOUR BOOBS BEING PUSHED UP WITH THIS DRESS.
I was like. Oh fuck me mum, thanks for that.
XD HAHAHA
i forgot to put my url on the last one, so i put it on this one so YOU CAN REPLY! :D
Lol! But don't you just like when people think you are younger? I like that V_V
Btw, buying flowers in a special flower shop is better than in a grocery shop. (I work in a flower type soph and learned te difference).
Can't wait to see your new layout! (:
so i read your twitter, and that is sooo unfortunate u couldn't get the outfit for the greenday concert you wanted. thats such a bummer! seriously. im sorry.
but hey, atleast u can keep shopping for somethin else!
Hey! I don't have the time to read this blog post right now but I'll be back. I just wanted to give you this: http://www.whirlwind.nu/1.jpg
A fan sign from me to you! <3
For me, it's the opposite. I'm tall for my age so a lot people think I'm 16 when I'm actually 14. And my friend [whom i've known for my whole life] is 13 and is somewhere around four feet. A lot of people think she's nine.
This entry made me feel better about not knowing the procedure of buying flowers, either.
About a month ago, my best friend was having a really bad day and called me up on my break at work, in complete hysterics. Her boyfriend was being an asshole. So I decided to take her home some flowers and felt like an idiot when I got to the shop because I didn't know what I was doing, either, haha.
Ooh, I love how you compared picking out the color to choosing ice cream. XD
I can't say I've ever tried to buy flowers. o_O
