3 March 2010

Good day, my fellow psych ward escapees! ^_^

I do hope you've all managed to wriggle out of your straitjackets by now, 'cause you're gonna need at least one hand free to start clicking away at this week's updated pages! If not, then I suggest using a foot to navigate your mouse or touchpad.

Remember, toes can be just as useful as fingers! In fact, those are words every psych ward escapee should live by. ;She nods in an experienced sort of way.; n_n

My Wishlist page was updated to include a bunch of new items that I've been wishing for lately ... And I was also able to check off a couple of items, as well! ^o^ Ah, the joys of materialistic possessions.

The Japanese Text Based Emoticons page was updated with a bunch of new emoticons and accompanying descriptions! I also found some of the older emoticon descriptions to be slightly incorrect, so I made a few changes to those, as well.

The Stupid Signage page was updated with one new bit of signage, straight from the Engrish capital of the world: Japan! This new addition is the type that makes you simply shriek with laughter, so be sure to check it out! ^_~

And now that we've got the updates taken care of, it's time to move onto today's first blog topic ... My new pet Betta fish I introduced you all to in last week's entry! *^^* As you might recall, the home he had last week wasn't much larger than a drinking glass. However, I've since visited the Goodwill and purchased a one gallon glass fishbowl for my new friend --- Which came to the extremely affordable price of two dollars and fifty cents! O_O;

The regular price was $5.00, but since I visited the Goodwill on half price day, I got it for --- Yep, you guessed it --- Half the bloody price! What's more, after I bought it, I decided to visit the same pet shop my Betta came from, with the intent of getting some gravel for the bottom of the bowl, along with a fake plant or two, as I read that Bettas enjoy the option of having privacy from time to time.

While I was browsing through the various tiny faux plants, I noticed a small selection of glass fishbowls sitting on the floor --- Including several that were exact copies of the bowl I had just bought at the Goodwill minutes before!

Excited to see how much of I deal I had received, I bent down and picked the bowl up, turning it over to see the price tag on the bottom ... Which read $15.99! Needless to say, I was quite pleased I had snatched up such a stellar deal at the Goodwill, as I was then able to afford cooler fishbowl accessories --- Which you can admire by clicking on the thumbnail below!

As you can see, I decided on black and red gravel, a little rock 'cave' which came adorned with various faux plants, and a green spiky faux plant, which matched one of the plants 'growing' on the 'cave'. ^^;

I really love how I set it all up, and my Betta seems to love it, as well! If he's not weaving in and out of all the fake vegetation, he's hiding beside the spiky plant or inside of the little cave --- 'Specially if he feels a little too much like, well, a fish in a fishbowl. o_o;

Now, as for the little dude's name, I'm afraid I still haven't picked one out. x_x; I know, I know, in last week's entry I basically promised I'd have a name all picked out by now ... But I simply haven't dreamt up the 'right' name yet, and I refuse to choose one willy nilly. It's gotta be just perfect! ><; No worries, though, I'll be sure to post my choice right here on mallorymaloney.com when I finally decide. Hopefully in next week's entry, but no promises this time! c_c;

And now for the next blog topic ... The cookies I made yesterday! Using this recipe I found on AllRecipes.Com, I proceeded to make a big batch of skull and star shaped sugar cookies ... Both frosted and unfrosted! Click the thumbnail below to see seven of the tastiest looking ones. ^_~

Now, unfortunately, while they were tasty looking, the actual taste itself wasn't the greatest. v_V; No worries, though, there's nothing wrong with the recipe, nor did I mess anything up. ((This time!))

Y'see, the problem is, when I bite into a sugar cookie, I want it to be so sweet that my fillings ache, basically ... And unfrosted, these cookies simply didn't deliver that kind of sugary goodness! However, if you're a bigger fan of a mild sugar cookie --- One with just a soft hint of sugary taste --- Then this recipe is definitely for you!

Frosted, though, they were plenty sweet --- Although almost to the point where you couldn't taste the actual cookie. #_#; However, I did use a jar of Betty Crocker's Rainbow Chip icing, as opposed to using the recipe for frosting within the cookie recipe ... Only 'cause I'm not a fan of frostings made primarily out of powdered sugar and milk. ><;

Something else I'm not a fan of: My Mother constantly complaining that I need to 'act my age' one moment, and then treating me as if I'm ten years old the next. For example, earlier this afternoon, she stormed into my room and started bitching at me to 'get off the computer', saying I needed to 'do something else for once', that I 'never help around the house,' and that, 'it doesn't take six to eight hours to type a blog!'*

Okay, first of all, the only time she freaks out about me being on the computer is Wednesdays --- The same day I always spend typing out and then posting my Updates/Blog entries. Coincidence? I think not. Thanks to her, though, I now dread every single Wednesday, knowing that it's going to be nothing but a day full of uneasiness, headaches, and arguments between her and I.

Purely due to this delightful little problem, I've decided that this will be the last time I post an Updates/Blog entry on a Wednesday. After today, I will continue to post every Friday**, instead --- Only because I know my Mother works on this day every single week.

I apologise if this bothers anyone, but hey, it's better than what I was originally tempted to do out of frustration --- Put mallorymaloney.com on an open Hiatus for a few months until my Mother forgot all about it.

Continuing on in response to her verbal barrage, though, I'll have you all know that I do a fucking assload of non computer related things every single day. If anyone aside from my Mother actually doubts this, then just look the two blog topics prior to this one --- How the fuck was I able to spend all day yesterday making cookies for my family, if I supposedly do nothing but use the computer ...? How did I buy and set up a new home for my Betta if I do nothing but use the computer ...?

And how about the fact that I'm always apologising on my Twitter for not Tweeting enough, due to the fact that I've been too busy running errands, and/or cleaning, and/or cooking the whole day ...?

I don't know if my Mother chooses to ignore all of this evidence, or she simply doesn't notice. Either way, though, her claims are total bullshit --- Including when she stated that it doesn't take eight hours to type out an Updates/Blog entry. Um, actually, Mum, yes it does. This is exactly how long it takes me, every fucking week, and that's a fact you're extremely familiar with.

Of course, this might just be her way of telling me she thinks I use my computer too much, but if so, then she's just making herself sound like a massive hypocrite, because guess what ...? It doesn't take two hours to 'check' one's Facebook, either --- Yet this is exactly what she does, nearly every single day!

Ugh.

Changing which day I type and post up blogs every week should pretty much solve all these problems, though, so enough about that. There's one more thing I wanna talk about with you guys before I end this entry!

I've been receiving a lot of compliments and questions lately regarding the way I do my eye makeup, ((Which, BTW, surprises the Hell out of me, because I still feel like massive beginner in the world of cosmetics ... I mean, c'mon, up until late last year, this was how I was applying my makeup,)) And I was wondering if anyone would like me to make a video tutorial, detailing exactly how I go about applying my every day look ...?

I know my friend Rachel would, as she posted a comment on my 17 February 2010 entry, requesting this very thing --- But I'm not sure how many other people would watch alongside her! And let's face it, making a video that only one or two people are watch is seriously wasteful, time wise. c_c;

So, when you comment, be sure to let me know if you'd be interested in watching or not ... And if I get a good chunk of positive responses, then I'll go ahead and make one for you all sometime this month!

If not, though, no biggie. I'll still love you, don't worry. *^^*

Heart!

*Yes, this means that my Mum knows about and frequently visits my site --- Along with the rest of my family, including extended members! And no, this fact doesn't bother me in the least. They can read and visit all they want --- This is a public site, after all!

**And this means, of course, that mallorymaloney.com's next Updates/Blog entry will be posted on 12 March 2010, not 5 March 2010 ... Just in case you thought you were gettin' lucky twice this week. =_=

Mallory

  1. Mallory! Your betta's fishbowl looks glorious! I love the set-up! Now i'm the one feeling envious and/or jealous. Hehe.

    As for your mommy issue: all parents are like that. When I was a WoW addict that's all I ever heard from my Grandma. "Amber, when are you going to get a REAL hobby?" - "You need to get up and do something beneficial, Amber!"

    Ugh, so annoying. And it's never my Grandpa bitching about my internet time. Always JUST my Grandma. (It's not so bad now that i've quit WoW. I actually spend dinners with my Grandparents instead of skipping and raiding for 4 fucking hours.)

    As for the video tut on your gorgeous makeup: i'd watch it! I'd be super happy if you did it. When I do my makeup I go way overboard with colors and such so a simple, everyday look (like the seemingly simple black and silver look from your 02.17.2010 blog) would be nice! It'd be something I could probably get away with at work. But I think you should do some colorful ones as well. Color is gooooood.

    <3's and hugs!

    xo; Amber Lynn

  2. I love that you always come up with a different way to greet your visitors XD I just have increasingly hostile blog titles XD Twat. That is me.

    That is quite a deal you got on your fishbowl!! I am very proud of you, being a bargain-hunting queen myself! I loved the picture; your fish looks very happy! I would try to help you think up a name for him but I'd probably end up telling you to call him Bender Badge and that's of no help to anyone XD

    Oooh, ohhh, I'm so gutted that the cookies didn't taste as good as they looked; my mouth practically projectile-drooled when I saw the picture!! I should add that on the List Of Things To Do When Mallory Comes Over -- BAKING!! Cause I am the goddess of cupcakery; I'm very good at cakes, having been an avid baker of cupcakes since I was a wee bairn. My Mutti taught me how to bake cakes at the age of three or something stupid, and by watching her I got pretty good at it :D Wheee, and before you ask.. Yes, there is a List Of Things To Do When Mallory Comes Over. I wouldn't want you being bored at my house!!

    I wouldn't worry too much about your mum; it's every parents' job to find something to bitch about. You're being sensible in changing your update day; personally, I think it'll be easier for everybody if you updated on a Friday. You could get it done in peace, your mum will be out at work so it won't annoy her, and I hope I speak for a lot of readers when I say a Friday evening isn't hugely eventful, so it gives more time for us to read and comment properly :D Whoop whoop! It is annoying that she told you you don't help around the house; you're always talking about the chores you've been doing etc!

    Mallory, your eye make-up is amazing. I've been wearing eye make-up since the age of twelve and mine's still a load of horseshit. But YES!! YES!! MAKE A VIDEO TUTORIAL!! YOU'LL BE MAKING A VIDEO, HA HA HAHAHAAHAA!! I WIN!! Biatch. You will *always* bend to my will whether you like it or not. I'll rape the video like a big fat lesbian, and you know it you slag.

    Lots and lots of love as always, bumbag.
    And forget about the 'what if only two people watch my vid?' bullcrap; only like three people read my blog, and I keep it open for those three people. BE SELFLESS *megaglomp*

    -- Kayleigh

  3. That is a great looking fish bowl! Still no name for the little guy yet? Don't worry, that sorta thing kinda has to take time to come to you. You'll think of it once you decipher his personality a bit. :)

    I saw your tweets about the cookies. I'm glad you found the powdered sugar for them! They look delicious. I'll have to try those. Where did you get that skull cookie cutter, btw??? It kicks ASS!

    A little side note: My personal webpage was what initially got me a spot as layout editor for the college paper. That's a helluva good mention on a resume. Knowledge of web design and blogging impresses people. Therefore: you could tell your mother that this is actually improving your chances of getting a great job one day.

    And I think you should DEFINITELY make a video for your eye makeup techniques. I completely SUCK at eyeshadow so I could use all the help I can get. PLEASE DO THIS! lol

  4. whoo i followed you on twitter,still no name for the fish,if it makes you feel better i have 2 tetras who have no names either.i also have to to come up with a name for a bunny since it's JJ's easter present..sorry about your mom and yea make a video it's interesting to see how others wear their makeup

  5. that sure is a cute fish bowl! but with me being a large person, i worry that he may be too crowded in there? i bet he isn't since you said he likes to swim around the things in there, and i imagine ONE photo doesnt show enough angles.... yeah i'm hinting at more pics, please! i wanna see teh fishie! ^__^
    and youre such a tease! no fish name yet! WHAT? if you dont like Crimson Avenger, what about Crimson Dynamo? The Red Scare? The Red Skull? The Red Menace? Manchester United? done with the red references yet? ... okay.
    and i certainly DO know that it CAN take 6 to 8 hours to write! for one thing: you REALLY write an entry. it's not like some people who write a little blurb of a half a paragraph about their lunch or something. you REALLY write a FULL and INTERESTING post! i try to do this as well and know that coming up with ideas, rewriting pieces that just werent working out, and getting everything in order can take literally hours! and you only do it ONCE per week! also, if your Tweets are true, then we all know about the cleaning up and cooking you do! youre allowed a hobby, arent you?
    meh. mothers. dont even get me started on THAT.
    see you friday, then!

  6. also you use firefox right,could you tell me why my scrollbars dont show and why my links dont work right in it please

  7. Wow, I really love this new theme you've got up.
    I still have no internet connection at home (currently on my friends laptop), but I can speak now! :D
    Kim x

  8. I would definitely watch a video tutorial on makeup! I'm terrible at applying eyeliner, lol.

    My mum used to say that I spend too long on the computer, but now that she knows it's my main means of communication between me and my friends, and that I have a lot of online friends I love talking to, she doesn't mind too much any more. :) It takes mebetween half an hour and 3 hours to type a blog depending on how distracted I become by twitter and youtube, but then your blogs are longer than mine. Though I blog daily, so if I spent as long as you on my blogs I would implode. xD

  9. Thank you ^-^ But I have to say that you inspire me too :D

    That's a really cool fish bowl! I wish I could do something like that, but my tank is huge x]. My brother named his fish Ariel/Flounder/Sebastien lol.

    I agree on the whole mother thing, my parents act the same way. Even though I have a public site, I wish I could block it from my parents haha.

  10. so if i add that to my scrollbar coding part it should work in all browsers

    as for my links it's weird i sent you an email with acsreenshot of my site..i hate them scrollbars

  11. what about making them transparent ina ll browsers

    and darn it know its not the dimentions since they're precise

  12. The fish bowl is gorgeous. =) I bet if I had any fish, they would be insanely jealous of your fish. In fact, my dog is probably jealous of your fish. Although he's spoiled, as I'm sure many pets are. =)

    I would be interested in watching a makeup tutorial, si. =D I suck at eye makeup, especially eyeliner. =O

    Sorry for the really rubbishy comment, but yeah. =)

  13. i hate FF nothign fixes anything

  14. but thanks for the help.maybe ill eventually find a solution until then ill just have to put a disclaimer on browsers

  15. i dont think im using that code right as im lsot and it hastn worked

  16. YAYY You got a fish!! :D I haven't had a pet in a loooooong time. I've gotten beta fishes. But they ended up dying. I think I've been through around 3 of them. The last one I had was bluish-purple-ish. I named him Gilbert. no idea why. It was the first name that popped up in my head and I highly doubt anybody would name their pet Gilbert.

    Ooh goshh I know how you feel when your mom says all that crap spending way too much time on the computer. My mom's the same EXACT way. Even though, I admit that I spend slighty more time on the computer than the average teenager should. xD

  17. I plan to go back to the pet store eventually and get a bigger tank, a shit-ton of gravel, and a bunch of fake plants; then get another Betta. But not unless it looks healthy. And I this time i'm going to get a filter that doesn't cause too much disturbance in the water, along with a thermometer and some water testing kits. (If I get another fish, I want to do everything possible to make sure it's safe and healthy.)

    Oh, and I credited you on "my room" page because I got the idea from you. I wasn't going to just pop up the page and not give you credit! Silly girly! You inspire me to add new pages and expand my site a little bit. You'll be getting alot of credit for things in the future. =)

    Glad you like the Green Day posters! Sadly, I do not have any of their CD's (I was a huge fan before I had my job, and I haven't bothered to buy any of their albums since then) but at least the posters show my appreciation! Hehe. I lied, actually. I do have "Bullet in a Bible" if that counts. LOVE that DVD. .<

    xo; Amber Lynn

  18. Your mother sounds like my grandmother! She is always scolding me that I am on the computer too much, when she does not live with me and does not know what goes on in my house.

    >.< I have always wondered what that emoticon means lol! A girl who is in my guild on WoW uses that constantly!

  19. You're such a good fish mommy. He looks happy in his pretty environment!

    I would be one of those people watching your makeup video, I like watching how other people apply their makeup. I'm like you where I didn't really start getting into techniques and such until about last year and realized how much goes into it. So yes, show us!

    No disrespect to your mom, and I'm sure she is proud of you, but I would be proud of the fact that you're so creative with your site. Plus, bloggers will take over the world, so you'll be right along with them.

  20. Yay! I'm glad you picked up a bargain! It's also eco-friendly. ;)

    Ahh, I love the little environment you have created for your Betta :)

    Bleh, I'm sorry your mum gets cranky on Wednesdays when you post your blog! Friday is a good alternative. :) I like blogging on Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings.

    I would love to see you post videos of how you do your make-up tutorial! Preferably part of your content so I can refer back to it when I'm prepping for a special occasion of somewhat kind. Give it a shot, and if you don't get enough positive feedback (which I doubt would happen) then you could just 'axe' it.

  21. HOLYSHIT LMFAO @ THAT HAIRCOMB THING. XD Now I want a minamal X-Ray absorbing comb too, damnit. Can they at least MAKE one, since they got my hopes up?! :( Now I'm dissapointed.

    Awww, you're fish looks adorable <3 looks all nice and cosy in the bowl :D Sometimes I wish I could be a fish, cos I'd get to live in a bowl with gravel and wee mini tree things <3 I guess it'd be like living in a house with stones and a normal sized tree but.. Still. XD

    COOOOOKIES <3 They look YUM. Almost as yum as Calums face, actually!

    ..Just ignore that. XD BUT YEAH, they look SCRUMPTIOUS (LOL I've never used that word before!) The only thing close to a cookie I can make is shortbread -- One day I was experimenting, putting random ingrediants in a bowl, then seeing what came out, and I made some AMAAAZING shortbread. Too bad I can't remember what I used and what amounts. ;____;

    Have I ever told you about the time I burned Pizza..? Microwaveable pizza? I think I may have, but I'm not sure. But yeah, that's one example of WHY KATHRYN IS SHIT AT COOKING/BAKING/ANYTHING INVOLVING MAKING EDIBLE THINGS! XD

    And URGHHH your mums being mean :( ... And OMG sorry Mallorys mother if you are reading this comment right now. Don't hate me, Mallorys Mum. PLEEEEASE. ;____;

    And YESYESYES. Make-up tutorials, PLEEEEASE <3 I'd totally use them.. I wear the kinda same make-up every day cos I have no idea how to do anything else, and I love the way you do yours so um.. YES PLEASE! ^____^

  22. Like I've said on Twitter, I don't think you deserve to be bitched at like that by your mother. Does she know what other people your age do? She should meet some other not too well behaved kids to compare and get an idea of what some other parents go through. I think that would make her appreciate you more. I mean there's people out there doing drugs, getting pregnant at 16, dropping out of high school, smoking, drinking, stealing. And you... you spend too much time in front of the computer?. Truly horrible.

    I know you don't want to take a student loan but I'd seriously consider that if I were you. It seems to me like you really want to move out of your parents house and going to school is a way to make that happen.

  23. I was on an iTunes shopping spree one day, and I saw one of his songs made it on the top 10, so I gave it a listen. I thought he was being accompanied by a girl singer, and that she was singing at the moment, but she just kept on singing... and singing... and I was like, "Where's Justin Bieber?!" Until I figured out... that was him. xD It was quite hilarious.

    She was HONESTLY convinced that we knew him, no joke! xD She's all, "You must have known them. They were waving, and trying to get your attention!" And then Hailey goes, "He was trying to get our digits!" And I laughed and said, "Yeah, all seven of 'em!" And my mom's sitting there all clueless, "What are you talking about? Is digits some kind of code or something?!?!?!" And then I said, "MOM. OUR NUMBER." And she goes, "OHHHH." It was funn-y. You just had to be there.

    I used to own a lot of fish as a kid. I named them such original things, too! I named my goldfish goldy and my angel fish angel. :) Happy times. Happy times. Until my MOM FLUSHED 'EM DOWN THE TOILET. I got so mad. And she did it with her boyfriend too. Kids, tsk tsk tsk.

    I bake things all the time. :) It's really fun, actually. But cleaning up isn't too good. After they're in the oven, I ditch until they're done and I can eat them. xD That usually means that mom has to clean up. Poor lady, no wonder she doesn't want to bake with me that often.

  24. Oh Mallory, about what I said on Twitter, it definitely wasn't about you. Though now that you mention it, you do relate yourself to my blogs a lot. NOT SAYING YOU'RE THAT NASTY BITCH of course. This girl will leave stories about her boyfriend in, and other totally unrelated stuff. :|

    I have a few emails sitting in my inbox which I cannot bother replying to, simply because they're so long and I'm lazy of course!

    I should try to avoid signing into MSN but it's pretty much automatic when I turn my computer on. Damn, right? But I never realised how totally distracting MSN actually is when it comes to comments and whatnot.

    That's a shame you still haven't thought of a name for your little Betta fish! But I'm sure you'll get to know him over time and hopefully come up with something that suits him. :)

    The fish bowl looks terrific, though! It looks a bit crowded to me, but after all, that is just one view from the front. I'm sure it's super roomy in there! :P I love the choice of colour for the stones. :D

    So your parents do know about your site! Haha. Not saying that's a bad thing though, but it's a bad thing that your mum thinks that all you're doing on the computer is blogging. Come on - you visit other people's blogs, listen to music, watch videos I assume - and tweet! It takes me about an hour to blog... but anyho.

    Nice plan. ;D I always plan on doing site things whenever I know my mum won't be home.

    And you did have time to bake those goodies. What is your mum talking about? Silly. :P

    My mum thinks I do "nothing" each day. That is, the days when I don't have university. Fucking sucks. If I did nothing, the sink would be full of dishes, the curtains wouldn't even be open, my bed wouldn't be made, etc.

    I don't wear makeup but you apply eye makeup better than I do. :D I would love to see a video though! It will be interesting and might inspire me or something or other. :3

  25. The shape of the bowl is pretty, but there's way too much vegetation in there. :(

    Lol, I don't know if I'd even consider that to be your mom's 'subtle' way of telling you that. It's blaring. Whenever my mom tells me crap like that, I always imagine the reaction I'd get from her (which is absolutely hilarious!)

    Now I really want a cookie (I don't want to make them. Just eat one of yours.)

  26. Your an adult right? Somewhere around 22-23 right? Why does she complain about your website and why would it be of any concern to her about it, after all it isn't like you are doing anything bad like getting naked on cam or anything, you barely post any pictures of yourself and its just a blog. I've seen 18 and 19 year olds stripping on cam with their parents in the next room, you could be doing things a lot worse than what your currently doing.
