5 August 2010

Hey! Ho! Let's go! \m/

It's strange, because when most people see the phrase used for today's Updates/Blog entry opener, they automatically think of The Ramones ... But when I see the phrase, I think of Green Day first, and The Ramones second! This is likely due to the fact that I discovered this phrase, ((And, subsequently, The Ramones,)) Through Green Day --- A fact which I'm sure would send most music connoisseurs into a fit of raging fury. o_O;

... To which I would respond by displaying both of my middle fingers high and proud, as I don't care much for these types of purists, musical or otherwise. In fact, I care for them so little, I'm going to jump right into this entry's updates and refuse to type another word about the snobby fuckers. >_>;

Eight items were checked off on my Wishlist page, all thanks to the fact that it was my birthday on 29 July! More about my funtastic birthday will follow in the blog segment later on. ^_~

One new quote has been added to the Family's Funny Quotes page. A single new quote might not seem like much, but it's all about the quality, m'friends --- And lemme tell you, this quote is of the highest.

Two upcoming movie titles were added to the Movies I Must See page: Vampires Suck, and Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. Both of these movies look freakin' hilarious, which is the main reason I wanna check 'em out. Well, that, and the fact that Michael Cera stars in the latter, along with a random actress I've never heard of named Mary Elizabeth Winstead but whose character looks totally punked out. These ingredients alone instantly create a must see --- But combined, they're instantly transformed into a megawatt must see. *_*

Now, onto the summary of my birthday that took place on 29 July! ^o^ It began much like any other day, with me getting up, eating breakfast, getting washed up, getting dressed, doing my hair and makeup, making sure my youngest brothers had done most of the same, and then eating lunch.

After lunch, though, came the funtastic part I mentioned earlier: The presentation of, well, my presents! >w<; To my surprise, my Mum came into the room with a giant tote bag full to bursting with wrapped gifts for me, which I was totally not expecting, because birthdays are normally a three to five present event in the Maloney household. As excited as any five year old, I eagerly began tearing into my gifts, unable to keep a goofy grin off my face as I did so ... Which you can witness yourself by clicking the thumbnail below. ((And before anyone asks, yes, I did bleach out sections of my hair, haha. Click here if you'd like to inspect the bleachage a little closer. The sections have been bleached even further since those photos were taken, in preparation for the red hair colour I'm planning to splash over top just before the Green Day concert on 18 August --- Which, BTW, is in thirteen days. ^o^))

Even more exciting than the opening was finding out that each and every present was just as full of winousity as I hoped it would be! I was delighted to find out that my Mum had carefully studied my Wishlist and purchased quite a few items I had been dying for off of it ... And then some! If you click the thumbnail below, you'll see that I got Avenged Sevenfold's album Waking The Fallen, a set of five MAC makeup brushes, a fifty dollar gift card intended for Barrie, Ontario's Georgian Mall, a black and white skull patterned studded belt, a set of white sheets with black skulls printed on them, and a pink and black binder covered in --- You guessed it --- Skulls!

I also received a fuckload of books that have been on my Wishlist for quite awhile! *o* Royal Blood and Love Bites, the sixth and seventh books in the Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schreiber, The Host by Stephenie Meyer, Beautiful by Amy Reed, The Hollow by Jessica Verday, and I Heart You, You Haunt Me by Lisa Schroeder. ((Yes, the very same book that I Tweeted about a few weeks ago after checking it out of the library. I only borrowed because I didn't realise I still had it on my Wishlist! X_X; Luckily, though, I quite liked the book, so I'm glad to have a copy of my own.)) Again, you can check out a photo of all of these by clicking the thumbnail below! ^^

I also received the unrated DVD version of Live Free Or Die Hard, which isn't pictured as I stupidly forgot to include it in the first photo, twenty five dollars from my Nany, ((Our nickname for our Mum's mum,)) And forty dollars from my brothers to use for whatever I wanted, so long as it wasn't 'forty Gatorades'. >_>; I'm rather notorious for buying a Gatorade nearly every single day during the summer, haha.

The rest of my birthday consisted of walking about the city with my brother Cameron to run a few errands for my Mum most of the afternoon, ((Most people would consider this work, but I actually volunteered myself to run said errands, as I absolutely adore walking,)) Followed by a quick checking of my Internets, ((During which I discovered that Hotmail had decided to implement several new 'features' such as a 'web' version of Windows Live Messenger that automatically signed me in without alerting me --- That is, until I had ten people messaging me all at once when I only intended to be online for five minutes at the most, leaving me feeling rather helpless and guilty as I hastily typed out explanations of why I was about to sign out without properly responding to their messages,)) Followed by a hurried reapplication of makeup before I headed out with my family to enjoy a birthday supper, complete with ice cream cones and milkshakes instead of a cake. ((My idea, as I much prefer ice cream to cake ... And because I didn't want my Mum to spend thirty bucks on a premade ice cream cake as she's done for several of my past birthdays.))

All in all, I'd say my birthday was pretty damn good! And it was made even better by the multitude of @replies on Twitter and the comments here on mallorymaloney.com wishing me a happy birthday, so I wanna thank you guys very much for that. The amount of love you all continue to shower me with, despite the fact that I've been continuously neglecting pretty much every aspect of my online life, ((From the sporadic Updates/Blog posts here on mallorymaloney.com, to the fact that I haven't properly been in touch with any of you for what seems like a lifetime,)) Really means a lot to me, and so I thank you for that, as well. *^^*

With that said, I'm gonna have to ask you all to forgive me in advance, because after today, there won't be any new Updates/Blog entries here on mallorymaloney.com until sometime in September. The reasons for this mini hiatus are plenty: My parents are both going to be gone for pretty much the entirety of next Thursday, ((12 August,)) And I don't much fancy the idea of sitting in front of my computer all day when I have full run of the house; The Green Day concert is the Wednesday after that, ((18 August,)) And I know I won't be up to typing a Updates/Blog entry recapping the entire concert the next day; The Summer's nearly over, and I don't want to spend the rest of it indoors, as there'll be plenty of time for that once Fall's chill creeps in; And lastly, I'm going to be staying at my Nany's house sometime in early September for a week or so as a vacation of sorts ... And she doesn't have any Internet connection in her house!

While I dislike hiatuses as much as the next person, I figured it was better than me not saying anything this week and pretending I'd be posting another an entry next week as usual ... Only to disappoint both myself and all of my visitors by posting nothing but an annoying edit on the day stating that I 'didn't have the time' ... Or an equally weak excuse. e_e;

Granted, my excuses disguised as reasons above aren't much stronger, but hey, we all need a bit of a break once in awhile --- And a planned break is always better than an unplanned one, in my opinion!

And when myself and mallorymaloney.com are back on the webscene sometime in September, you can expect a colossal word and photo packed entry describing every last detail of the Green Day concert that I'm going to be attending in just thirteen days! That's right, darklings, in less than two weeks I will once again be seeing my heroes up close and personal. *o*

I'm so excited it's fucking ridiculous. For the last few weeks I haven't been able to sleep properly, I've been eating either way too much or way too little every day, my skin's broken out like whoa, and unless I'm doing something exceptionally interesting, I'm in a constant state of boredom. #_#; 18 August simply can't arrive quick enough, in my opinion!

Until then, though, I leave you all with a virtual kiss and a kick in the nuts. Much love, and thank you all again for your continued support! ^w^

Mallory

  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY M'DEAR!
    *belated*

So, another year older! Good stuff. Well done for surviving another year. With all the shootings, foot&mouth desiese, and stuff going around, it is incredible fortunate you survived. :)

I am genuinely glad you b/day didn't suck though As we get older, the birthdays get shitter, and you got some nice gear there. Not so sure on The Host, but apart from that, you hit the jackpot.

Don't worry about going on hiatus. When the parents are away .etc... I live on my own now, so I have been like that for a while, but the PC is a wonderfulful confort, Just keep tweeting!

  2. i'm glad you had a great birthday and got tons of stuff you wanted.it sucks that you won't be posting anything for over a month but i guess we'll have to survive

  3. Mallory! It feels like forever since we've spoken. HI! =D

Happy belated birthday! :D I had no idea or I'd have tweeted you at the time, but my twitter was limited in Ireland and we must have missed each other. :L

Waking The Fallen! :D And All Things Will End is my favourite Avenged song of all time, I'm listening to it right now as it happens. Some great lyrics there. :3
I'm quite jealous of the rest of your presents, apart from the host. :L

Thirteen(well, twelve now) until you see Green Day? Time has gone quickly, I vividly remember your blog about getting the tickets. :L I hope time goes quickly for me too, I was up early today getting Apocalyptica tickets plus I have tickets for Avenged Sevenfold & Stone Sour, and Bullet For My Valentine. xD
I'm sure seeing Green Day will be great, and I can't wait until September to hear all about it. That's so far away ):

  4. Hey Mallory, sorry for not commenting in a while! I do visit, I just don't comment. (I hope you still remember me. :3)

I just want to wish you a late Happy Birthday! I'm glad you got lots of stuff, especially all the stuff from your wishlist! I hope you have an amazing August and I hope you return soon (early September!)

  5. I don't really think of either. It reminds me of an impatient bitch. XD

Looks like you racked up some awesome stuff on your birthday (happy belated birthday, by the way).

I dunno how I feel about that Vampires Suck movie. All the other films by those two guys were horrible. The only thing in the trailer that made me laugh was the Black Eyed Peas bit.... and HOW DARE THEY DISS THE GAGA!

How have you never heard of Mary Elizabeth Winstead?? She was in Final Destination 3... an awesome film. ;) Oh, and maybe you should put in your new Live Free Or Die Hard DVD because she's in that too... lmao (she's the daughter).

  6. Happy belated birthday, have fun, and make sure you say hi to me as soon as you get back! :D

  7. I'm so glad you had such an amazing birthday! All your presents look brilliant, and it's sounds like you had a really nice day. You seem really happy in this blog, and that subsequently makes ME happy!!

I'm sorry I haven't sent you anything yet; I can't find anything decent enough and I feel a bit naff just sending you a poster, even if it IS a very fetching Green Day one ;D

Are you excited for Green Day/AFI? I've been reading AFI's Tweets about the tour; they seem to be having fun, and I've asked Jade to give you a wave if he sees you. I hope you shove your way to the front near him so he can do it!!

I love you Mallory, and I miss you an awful lot!!

    K xx

  8. Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had a great time, wonderful presents and an overall great day, eh?

I think I'm probably a music snob when it comes to certain things, especially if I'm really passionate about the band. I don't know, I try not to be super pretentious, but sometimes I probably come off that way. I just can't stand when people solely like a band or what not because it's the next big thing. It shouldn't matter, but eh it's just one of my pet peeves.

I wouldn't mind seeing Green Day live. I'm not a hardcore fan, but I enjoy their music, they're definitely talented. I would imagine they put on a fun show.

Anyway, have fun away from the computer and enjoying your life.

  9. I can't tell you how excited I am that they have finally released a parody of the Twilight saga. I'll admit to the books and movies being somewhat of a guilty pleasure, but you have to admit that there are more than a handful of cheesy, off-the-wall and cliche' elements to that story...

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is amazing, by the way. She used to be in a soap opera all the time that I used to watch: Passions. She starred in the third Final Destination movie too.

I hope you have an awesome time at the concert... I'm so excited for you hon!!! Take loads of pictures for us, okay?

    PS Niiice birthday loot!

  10. Happy Late Birthday Mallory :D sounds like a truly great birthday!

  11. Raging fury! Ramones before Green Day dammit! I keed - I keed. My generation versus yours - that's all. That how people discover the roots of something, by loving what their contemporaries do with it. Heck, I bet a lot of people went on to read Ann Rice, then Bram Stoker only after finding Meyer's Twilight. It's all good.

Oh, and look for Mary Elizabeth Winstead in your Live Free or Die Hard DVD. She's John's daughter Lucy, and if I was a bit younger I'd say she was hot. You might have also seen her in Grindhouse and Final Destination 3.

Sounds like you had a spectacular birthday. Enjoy the hiatus. Cheers.

  12. I'm glad your wishes were granted!

You're doing the red streaks!!!! I kinda like the in-between, coppery color from black to blond. Did you do it yourself (if so, you did a good job on placing the streaks)? I'm too chickshit to put bleach in my own hair.

Have fun with the rest of summer!

  13. Aww, glad you had a lovely birthday! And great presents!

Enjoy your mini hiatus too, you deserve one :)

  14. *takes deep breath*

What if I don't have nuts?

GIRL! I will hurt you if you leave me here on this boring piece of internet! By me self!

I have read The Host and I heart you, you haunt me. They are very good. The Host, is SO SO much better than twilight!

I really didn't understand your um entry. I know the song, but who is the r word. and green have to do with it? -CONFUSED-

  15. huzzah! i'm glad you had a good birthday! lotsa cool swag, too! :-D
also, i luuuurve how your hair looks with the streaks in! fekking sweet!
i can't believe how close that green day concert is! eee! i just know you'll have an absolute BLAST, m'dear! take lots o' photos! both at the show AND of you and you specially picked outfit of course! can't wait to see how the hair looks with the red!
we'll be missin' your blogs for certain! enjoy your "time off" but come back sooooon!

  16. You still have me listed as Lovesnuggles on your affiliates. Make sure to change that, please! :D

  17. Sounds like a great birthday! Happy belated :) Enjoy the Green Day concert and the rest of your summer!

  18. I'm glad that you had an awesometastic birthday! :D Your presents look amazing.

I loooove Live Free or Die Hard! Bruce Willis is one of my favorite actors.

I'm sure that you'll have a blast at the Green Day concert. Speaking of Green Day, I was looking at some old newspapers that my dad forgot to throw in the recycling bin and found a picture of Green Day in the music section. They actually played a gig in my city last Monday...exactly a week ago!

  19. Happy Belated Mallory :D! I loved reading your birthday entry *heart*

& btw - I LOVE your hair!! You should add more red dye to it and make it really bright - i think it'll look amazing with your jet black hair ;D

I hope you had a blast at the concert yesterday!! (but of course you did - greenday are too f*cking good!) :D xxx

  20. Happy belated birthday, Mallory! I'm a bit of a bookworm myself so it must be kind of exciting to receive so many books, especially since they were all on your wishlist & all! It's been a long summer & I haven't even been able to finish some of the books I wanted to finish yet I kept ordering more. Sigh!

I'm sure you had fun at the concert. :)

  21. HOW AMMMMMAZING WHAT GREEN DAY!? I read your post on GDA, and you were like 20 people over from me! Did you get on stage?! I sure did.

Man! I got up and like fought three dudes off Billie Joe so my friend could get to him (she's obsessed) and then went over and partied with Tre, my boyfriend, haha. It was funny 'cause I tied my sweater around my waist and said "Oh, who cares, who do I have to impress? Green Day? Like they'll see" and next thing you know my sweater wrapped around butt is dancin' right directly infront of Tre Cool! How embarassing! Hahaha!

Anyway! Greatest show! I've seen them before and this still blew my mind!

I'm so glad you're still such a dedicated fan! It's funny when I first started getting into the website scene was when they put American Idiot out and you couldn't go far without seeing someone with a Green Day layout and now like no one has one, haha, even with their new album out! So it's nice to see I still have a mutual fan to chat it up with, haha.

I can't wait to open my site up and get back on the scene. You and I can influence all the young and destroy the old just like old times!

  22. Happy extremely Belated Birthday!. I'm sorry I did get to it sooner!

You got a lot of cool stuff for your B-Day. i love the belt and binder a lot. All the books look fantastic, I'm going to read up on them, I LOVE BOOKS!

I hope you had fun at the Green Day concert. I can't wait to hear about it.

  23. Hehe, I think of Green Day when I hear that too!

The host is a good book, I enjoyed it when I read it - much better written that the Twilight saga in my opinion.

I love that binder! Very much sometyhing I would buy myself, glad you had a good Bday.

  24. That's a lot of cool gifts! I love that your family used wrapping paper with skulls on! :D The only one doing that in my family is me and my parents really don't appreciate how cool that makes my gifts to them look like they should! v_v

Come back online Mallory! Even though I've been terribly inactive myself lately I still read blogs and I miss your updates. :)

I hope you had a blast at the Green Day concert and I'm looking forward to hearing all about it! :D

  25. Happy very belated birthday!! I'm glad you had a nice time at the concert. You got such cute presents. I also like this photo of you. For some reason I always like looking at present opening photos, haha.

That quote from your Dad is HILARIOUS! Come back to the blog world soon. I miss you!

  26. Happy belated birthday. Sounds like you had a good one:)

Hope you had a great time at the concert:) Which I'm pretty sure you had:P

  27. Hey :) Sorry it's been a while since I was last in contact. How have you been?

  28. Happy belated birthday! So sorry I didn't wish you a happy birthday before - things always slip my mind and get away from me and then I feel like poo afterward. But anyways... happy belated birthday.

I discovered The Ramones through Green Day as well. Marilyn Manson as well, because he did a cover of "The KKK Took My Baby Away" for a tribute album. Honestly though... everytime I see the phrase "Hey! Ho! Let's go!" I do think of The Ramones, for the simple fact that I had to learn the song "Blitzkrieg Bop" for the Rock Band game, and it's said about a billion time in that song, LOL. But, now that you've talked about it, I'll think of you instead. LOL.

It's good that you have a wonderful birthday (and you enjoyed your Green Day concert - I saw that on Twitter!). You must let me know what you think of "The Host"... I've had it for a while but I haven't read it yet.

    <3

  29. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is the best movie of 2010. I suppose that's nothing new since I only see one movie every three years on average - but it was that good. Do see it. I hope you enjoy it. :D I loved it so much that I had to go and apply for the fanlisting for it over at TheFanlistings.org. :)

Happy belated birthday! It seems you are still alive; I see you've been tweeting. I think surely you've gone to the concert by now so I hope you had an absolute ball. All the presents look great - about time you got that A7X album too. ;)

If my parents were out, I would spend the days going out and seeing friends, but ALSO time on the computer - without a doubt!

Anyway Mallory, hope to hear from you soon. Planned breaks are definitely better than unplanned ones. :D

  30. aww i miss you mallory..I can't wait to read your long blog and see what's been happening with you.have fun with your family and take care

  31. Hey! I remember your site from WAYYYY back in the day! :P Looks awesome! I love your font you made yourself. So cool. Hope all is well! xoxo

  32. Sneaky Mallory stealing some innocent's unprotected Wifi!! :P hahahahahaha!

  33. Come backkksss.... ^___^

  34. Hey, Mallory! I dunno if you remember me, but I called the house for Cam once, and you answered (WOW, like you'd ever remember THAT). I mentioned it to Cam and I don't think he told you, but you have a really pretty voice.

Cameron directed me here because I've started a blog of my own, and he suggested I take a look around. I must say, I like it a lot! I read the family quotes, and nearly blew a blood vessel in my brain/hurt myself from laughing so hard. (Well, mainly I was trying to hold it in so my parents wouldn't get annoyed, but I did get a headache.)

Just thought I ought to comment since I came and visited.

Keep up the good writing. :)
    -Aeri

  35. I feel so guilty for not greeting you. :( Life has been torture as of late; it gets harder and harder for me with each birthday. But, wow, it's SO AWESOME that I found you again! 8D Nice to see that you got so many great gifts and that absolutely adorable smile on your face truly brightened my day =p

Anyway, better keep this short. I'm looking forward to more blog posts (and that Green Day entry). I saved your RSS feed, so I can get instant updates :]

  36. I MISS YOUR BLOGS :( *brushes away the e-cobwebs and sniffles*
