Happy 2010, everyone! ^o^
I do hope you've all had a stellar New Year's Eve and New Year's Day! I know I did, even though I took a rather relaxed approach to this year's events. ^^; More about how I rang in 2010 after the updates, though! ^_~
First up, my Fansigns page has been updated with a brand new sign, courtesy of my lovely Affiliate and friend Kayleigh! As you can clearly see, she's quite fond of Mallory Maloney's Handwriting, a font I recently fashioned out of --- You guessed it --- My handwriting! If you haven't checked it out yet, then I suggest you head on over to the Original Fonts page and give it a download! ^_~
Next, I updated the Past Versions page with a screenshot and a description of mallorymaloney.com's current layout, Version Thirty Eight --- Which means that Version Thirty Nine is fast approaching! *^^* More about this later on, though. ^_~
I also added one new tip to the Clever Cleaning Tips page! I consider this particular tip to be pretty much the best one on the page, because it recently saved my life after my seven year old brother Riley decided to draw all over my Mum's expensive LCD monitor in a fit of childish Sharpie defiance. e_e;
And this last update isn't exactly site related, as it revolves around Twitter ... But since I consider my Twitter account closely linked with mallorymaloney.com, it's only fitting that I mention it here. Long story made short, I posted a lot of Tweets in the last few weeks of 2009 which I began to feel had an annoyingly spam like quality, ((Namely an overload of song lyrics and a n00bishly excessive use of ALL CAPS during moments of excitement or anger,)) So to combat this little conundrum, I decided to delete every last one of my old Tweets and start fresh for 2010!
Speaking of 2010, let's get back to how I celebrated its arrival! As I already mentioned, I went about the celebratory task in a rather relaxed manner, by simply watching Green Day perform throughout the night on NBC's New Year's Eve With Carson Daly --- Up until about five minutes before midnight, anyway.
At that point, I went outside to cheer at the arrival of the New Year, along with various other residents of my city ... Which is always a cool experience! I heard people banging on what sounded like pots and pans with wooden spoons, I heard fireworks and firecrackers being set off, I heard car horns honking, and of course, I heard cheers galore --- Including my own, of course! ^_~
As for New Year's Day, I spent it working on mallorymaloney.com's upcoming layout, ((Keep your bloody shirt on, I'll get to that in a few more seconds,)) Putting away everything I got for Christmas, and just generally cleaning things up around my room and the house. Again, it was quite a relaxed day, but I felt pretty accomplished by the end of it, as I managed to get lots of little things done that I had been too busy to do for weeks.
... Which included getting some significant work done on mallorymaloney.com's much anticipated new layout! ^o^ Obviously, it's still not completed, but it's definitely getting there. And since you guys have been waiting so patiently for it to be finished, I figured you all deserve a bit of a sneak peek!
Just an itty bitty sneak peek, mind --- I'm not fond of showing off my creative works before they're fully complete, so really, you spoilt brats should be grateful you're getting anything at all! =_=

Y'know what, let's just change the subject --- To that 'sweet news' I Tweeted about on 4 January!
I'm sure all of my regular visitors remember an Updates/Blog entry I posted back on 12 November 2009, in which I talked about how much I loved a certain Canadian TV series called The Listener. Well, when I originally posted this entry, I was hopeful that there would be a second season of the show ... But it was the type of hope that one would apply to something such as, 'I hope my supper of beef liver will still taste delicious even though it isn't piled high with onions fried in butter,' or, 'I hope I won't be crushed to death by this Mack truck that is skidding in my direction in an out of control manner,' or even, 'I hope that one day the world will simply accept the fact that I'm different and throw a grand party in my honour, where anyone who has ever ostracised me will personally approach me one by one and apologise.'
In other words, very dim hope indeed.
This is why I was absolutely astonished when I discovered that only five days after I posted the 12 November 2009 entry, Shaftesbury Films quietly announced that The Listener had been renewed for a second season, thanks to a deal being reached between CTV, Space, and Fox International Channels! ((With the traitorous NBC being left completely in the dust, I noted with delight.))
As of now, there's no exact air dates for any of season two's upcoming episodes, but you can bet that I'll be happily glued to my TV screen the instant they premiere. ^^ ((Or, more likely, Skelly's screen.))
In similarly happy news, I've decided that I'm going to grow my hair long again! This time around, though, I'm going to continue getting it coloured black, as well as getting layers cut in as it grows, and I'm also planning to start straightening it on a regular basis as soon as it reaches shoulder length --- This way I'll avoid that 'bushy' look I always had with longer hair in the past.
I certainly don't want to repeat that again, ugh. -_-; I can't believe I always insisted my hair be all a single length! Looking back at old photos of myself, I'm usually raising my eyebrow and thinking, 'Was it my goal to have a hairstyle similar to Hermione Granger's from the first Harry Potter film?' I mean, seriously --- Look at the similarity!
The only difference is that Emma Watson could pull it off, whereas my hair just ended up looking absolutely atrocious. Never again, though! This time around, I'd rather look like the black haired alter ego of Avril Lavigne in her music video for Girlfriend. Observe the lack of atrociousness:
Much more attractive, in my opinion. Although I've still got quite a ways to go before my hair reaches the length of Avril's raven tressed alter ego, as mine's not even reached shoulder length yet. x_X; However, on the upside, my hair actually grows faster than average, so I shouldn't have to wait too much time. ^^;
But enough of my drab rambling --- I do believe I should this entry before I type you all to death! @_@; Happy 2010 once again, lovelies. I hope the New Year's going wonderfully for you all! *^^*
Ughhhh I'm so so so pumped to see your new layout. Damn your minuscule sneak peak. I love Avril's hair in that video. Good luck growing it out! My hair is pretty long (down to my boobs :P) but I need a trim BAD. It's so fried & it's really thick so it gets tangled like 5 minutes after I brush it, not even exaggerating. I do like the way long hair looks though, so I'm avoiding getting a haircut!
Please don't be offended by the fact that I'm pretty much ignoring the majority of your blog to squee over the fact that the new layout is PURPLE!

Good day to you! Nice to see another update ;D I love that you're not having lengthy disappearances lately, cause your site updates do make me chortle. Anywhore, I love that you're going to grow your hair long and do it like Avril's cause her hair has always been a point of deep jealousy for me; I cannot wear my hair long cause it's such a difficult type to maintain. Although my hair is starting to get pretty long at the front. Are you aware that my PINK HAIR IS COMING BACK WHEN I GET MY HAIR CUT NEXT WEEK!?!?!! I'm putting pink in my fringe and on the tips at the back of it :D I can't WAIT!! It'll be done before the Young Guns/My Passion gig, which is like 1 WEEK AND 5 DAYS away. I can't believe it's come around so fast. I have three gigs lined up so far; I am lé spoiled brat, no?
It snowed here, so college was cancelled yesterday and today! So I'm currently making a huge blog and posting all my snowy pics ;D Go take a look when you have a second, there's some pretty fantastic ones. And I'm montaging a video too, cause I couldn't decide which ones I liked best.
In regards to your eMail, I'm glad I made you happy, and I hope you manage to feel better soon. As for the job-hunt, I can only say keep on trying; it's what I'm having to do til I turn 18 and have more opportunities in this shit town.

Thank you for the comment, it made me smile - glad you liked the layout, even if you hate Demi Lovato. When I saw the unedited picture of her, I was like offt she looks really different here. So I thought I'd use it. I don't really like her much either, but maybe that's because I've grown out of Disney. (:
I certainly don't recommend straightening your hair on a regular basis, trust me it does more harm than good.. took me forever to stop doing it V_V it was when I realize that my hair was breaking whenever I was touching it.

I actually like your Hermione hair and don't think that it's all bushy like hers was. Looks more like her Goblet of Fire hair, IMO. But I agree, Avril hair looks much more badass. I've recently turned to raven locks myself. Lucky for me, temporary hair dye is a lie and the black will never wash out. NEVAH! O_o
There's actually a lot in that little tiny square! Can't wait to see the rest of it.
Laying and thinning def makes a big difference if you have long thick hair. I don't even straighten everyday anymore because it made such a difference. Ignore this next part if you already know: Just slap a good heat protecting product on your hair before you straighten so it won't get damaged as quick!
I went to dinner with my hubby and had a quiet night at home, we couldn't go drinking this year but I'm okay with that.

I loved Avril's black hair in that video! I'm growing my hair at the moment too - although I want to get mine to just below my waist line. I love long hair~ Layers are great and keep the shape in your hair. ^^

I'm glad you had a great new years day :D Mine was pretty okay, I guess. I didn't really do much. My new years eve was spent up in my room drawing, writing etc since my dad makes me and my sister go to sleep at 10 -.- *shakes head* he has no idea that we actually stay up til like 1:00 AM in our rooms xD
anywayy, hair is my favorite subject to talk about!! ^^ lol, welll my hair used to be just like that about a year ago. just one length. now it has a bunch of layers on the top and it's just a little bit below my shoulders. i actually want to dye my hair two shades lighter. i'm starting getting pretty bored of my natural dark brown/black color.

WOOT! I spent New Years Eve watching NBC's New Year's Eve With Carson Daly too. As Green Day was playing I thought "Mallory would love this!" ;) the purple in your layout sneak peak is very pretty. I'm glad your show got picked up!! It sucks when something you love is canceled(on of my TV shows was this year). Your hair wasn't that bad now. Though I do agree that Avril's in that photo is rockin'.

I had the same problem with my hair! I looked like a witch with long hair, but now it's layered, so it's not that bushy. I still want it less bushy though, ugh ><
haha yes, we have quite a few shops that sell very cute pens and other stationary goods. Though they're a little expensive :(

Ahh, I think you will suit Avril Lavinge's hairstyle very much. :) If you're in a rush to get long hair, you could always get extensions, but I don't think they'd feel quite the same as real hair :( But then I can't say that myself as I've never had extensions before ;P

I'm also growing out my hair and it's finally getting long. Had to chop most of it off almost 2 years ago due to ruining it from bleach and straightening.
Just a warning, don't straighten your hair too often and make sure you use some kind of straightening hair product that protects the hair from the heath. Using a straightening iron several days a week can do terrible damage to your hair. I should know. T_T
Anyway, Avril's hair in that video is great. Very pretty. I'm sure it will suit you well. :)

I've also just started growing out my hair. I must say it's been hard because I usually like having a bunch of layers and now I hardly have any hehe.
