Clever Cleaning Tips

Ever wondered how to remove scratches from the face of your watch? Or maybe you weren't sure how to remove all the lint from the grill cloth of your speakers ...? Well, wonder no more, dear visitor! Below I've compiled a list of clever cleaning tips that I have personally tested and/or use myself on a near daily basis. Read on for the cleverousity!
Ever happily slapped a new watch onto your wrist in the morning, only to look down at it during the course of the day and find that its face has been covered in scratches from being rubbed against a wall or some other painted surface? If so, then this tip is for you! *^^* Simply find a tube of actual paste toothpaste, ((If it's gel based it won't work,)) Dab a little onto the face of your watch, and rub gently. Wipe the excess away with a tissue or a damp cloth, and voilĂ ! Your watch should now be scratch free. ((If it doesn't work perfectly the first time, simply repeat.)) This trick also works wonderfully for cleaning the grime off sterling silver jewellery and collectible coins!
You're in the midst of giving your room a thorough clean from top to bottom, but when you get to your computer's cloth covered speakers, you're stumped. What to do ...? Simple! Find a lint brush, ((Or a lint roller, I suppose, although I've never tried using one myself,)) And repeatedly brush the grill cloth in one direction with it. After just a few strokes, you'll notice your speaker looks nearly new again! ^_~
You've already vacuumed and wiped down your keyboard, but you notice that you just can't seem to remove the dust from all of its many crevices. No worries --- Simply grab a clean, dry, ((And preferably brand new,)) Paintbrush, and use it to brush out the leftover bits of dust your vacuum cleaner couldn't reach! ((Plus, it's easy to make this task fun by pretending you're painting the keyboard, haha. ^u^))
If you want to try a more 'green' way of cleaning and freshening up your sinks and counters, then you need to try out this tip for yourself! ^_~ If you don't have any lemons in your fridge already, pick up a couple at your local grocery store. Cut one in half, and next, use the two lemon halves to 'scrub' the inside of your sinks and counters, cut sides down. Let your counters/sinks sit like this for about five minutes or so, and then wipe all traces of the lemon juice away with a clean, damp cloth. You'll be amazed at how well this works --- Not to mention how good it makes everything smell! ^_~
You got a brand new flat screen television just a few weeks ago, but already you can see fingerprints galore, and the old 'breathe on the fingerprints and try to rub them away' method isn't working anymore ... Plus, the manual says you can't use any ammonia based cleaners, so Windex is out! What's there left to use? Well, if you or someone in your family wears glasses, you just might be in luck! Find a package of those moistened eyeglass cleaner wipes you never get around to using, and use one of them gently rub away all of the visible fingerprints. Ta da! ^o^ ((Or, if you have a bottle of eyeglass cleaner laying around, just spray a little onto a microfibre cloth, and you've got a substitute for the wipes.)) Both of these methods can be used for laptop screens, as well!
If you have any windows in your home that are made of Plexiglass as opposed to regular glass, then you'll know how difficult it is to keep them looking clean --- Particularly if they've been accidentally scratched with something sharp. No worries, though, for I have a solution! All you need is a bottle of Goo Gone and a soft rag. Dispense a very small amount of Goo Gone onto the rag, ((Half a teaspoon'll be plenty,)) And carefully rub it into the offending Plexiglass scratches. Instantly lighter scratches will look as if they've been erased, and the visibility of deeper ones will be considerably reduced!
Ever had a plastic Rubbermaid or Tupperware container that you stored something especially smelly in, such as an onion? If you have, you'll know that this smell is next to impossible to get rid of --- That is, unless you know the simple secret! ^_~ All you do is take two or three paper towels, douse them in a good, hefty amount of white vinegar, and wipe out the inside of the container and lid with them. Next, place these same vinegar soaked paper towels right into the container and snap the lid on tightly. Let it sit overnight, and the next day, throw away the soggy paper towels, wash the container as you normally would, and then take a whiff --- The smell should be completely gone! However, if it still lingers, feel free to repeat the process as many times as you need.

If you ever have younger children living in or visiting your home, chances are they're going to eventually do what all little kids do --- Decide to express their artistic creativity by taking a Sharpie and drawing all over your pristine LCD monitor. >_>; Okay, so maybe that example's just a wee bit specific. At any rate, if Sharpie has somehow found its way onto an LCD monitor of yours, don't fret --- There's a simple solution! Just grab a clean, soft dish cloth, ((Or, even better, a microfibre cloth,)) Dampen it a little, and then run it over a bar of classic Ivory soap two or three times. Next, take your Ivory coated cloth and begin gently rubbing the Sharpie off your monitor. Sounds easy, right? Well, it's definitely a simple solution, but I'm not sure it should be described as easy. Removing every last bit of Sharpie will take quite some time, even if there's only a single mark or two on the monitor ... But don't give up! Just continue gently rubbing, ((Occasionally rinsing out and re soaping your cloth from time to time, if you feel it's necessary,)) And eventually, every last trace of Sharpie should completely vanish. After that, wipe off any leftover soap residue, and you're done! Whew.
