22 July 2010
FFS, I can't believe it's been over a month since I last posted an Updates/Blog entry here on mallorymaloney.com! v_V;
I really shouldn't be surprised with myself, though ... Every summer it's the same thing: I fully intend to regularly post an entry, and yet the days between said entries become further and further apart, and the 'edits' become more and more frequent, until, eventually, even those slow to a trickle, as well ... And then there's large gaps of a month or more without so much as a single peep from me letting all of my visitors know that everything's cool! x_X;
Thankfully, though, I haven't allowed it to escalate to that point this year --- Yet, anyway. e_e; I wouldn't be surprised if it happens sometime before the summer's over ... But enough of my negative bullshit! >_<; Instead, let's check out the updates and then the blog topics that have built up over these last few weeks. ^x^
Four new Affies have been added to the Affiliates page: Amanda, Christine, Danielle, and Mike! All four of these lovely people applied for Affiliation many weeks ago, but I only got 'round to adding them to the page recently ... So be sure to help me make it up to them by adding to their unique visitor count! ^_~
One new idea's been added to the Site Name/Username Ideas page: Hammer Smashed! I don't normally add a single idea to the page and call it an update, but this particular idea came to me out of nowhere, and I wanted to tack it onto the page before I completely forgot it. ^^;
Four new quotes have been added to the Family's Funny Quotes page, ((Including yet another sharply dim witted quote from yours truly,)) Which you all need to check out as soon as possible, purely because reading them will bring much joviality and merriment into your life.
An embarrassingly large amount of items were checked off of my Wishlist page, due to the fact that I recently received at least three different large summed tax cheques from the government. Sure, they're just sending me back the money that I should've been able to keep in the first place, but it's difficult to remember something so cynical when your bank account's brimming.
... Well, my bank account was brimming, anyway. >_>; After I bought so many things I've been wishing after for so long, it's kinda dried up now, heh. x_o; I don't regret spending a single penny of it, though, because everything I bought was totally worth it! *^^*
For example, I was picking up some foodly staples at a Canadian discount store called Giant Tiger a few weeks ago, and I happened to stumble across the fact that they were selling a limited stock of authentic Converse Chuck Taylors --- For only $49.00 a pair! O_O;
I, of course, had to purchase a pair for myself, considering I've wanted real Chucks for years ... But never could justify spending upwards of $80.00 on them, considering I could literally get eight pairs of knock off Chucks for virtually the same price. e_e;
What I didn't realise, though, is that authentic Chucks are approximately seventeen thousand times more comfortable than the ten dollar knock offs ... A fact which made it extremely easy for me to shell out $80.00 a few weeks later to buy yet another authentic pair of Chucks, this time from an online shoe store called Baggins Shoes. Now, I can clearly hear everyone's unspoken mental confusion over this fact already, so let me ease your minds by quickly explaining.
I'm sure you all remember last month's post, in which I excitedly showed off the Demonia platform boots I had purchased online to wear to the upcoming Green Day concert I'm going to be attending. Unfortunately, it turns out that I'm not going to be wearing the boots to the concert, after all.
I learnt this the hard way, after wearing them for nearly twelve hours on 1 July 2010, AKA Canada Day. I walked out the door wearing the boots around 11:30 AM, ((Along with the same top and skirt I wore to a dentist appointment way back in April,)) And I didn't take them off until almost 11:00 PM, when I came home after a long day of parade watching, junk food eating, vendor browsing, live alternative music appreciating, and fireworks admiring.
Before anyone jumps to conclusions, the reason I've decided not to wear the boots isn't because they're terribly uncomfortable or anything --- Because they're most certainly not! Granted, they're a little ouchy on the big toes, but that's simply a matter of breaking the boots in a little more. No, the reason I've decided not to wear them is because that when I have them on, I'm pretty much immobile.
I can stand without any problems whatsoever, and I can walk at a slow to moderate pace without too much trouble, but that's where the list of what I can do wearing them ends. The list of what can't do is considerably longer. For example, I can't walk quickly in them. I can't run in them. I can't jump in them. And if someone were to give me a push whilst I was wearing them, I'd most certainly topple all the way to the ground.
In other words, they're not really practical for a Green Day concert. e_e;
After accepting the fact that I had been rendered immobile for the entirety of Canada Day, I came to the conclusion that I was gonna need a new pair of shoes to wear to the concert --- Stat. I decided that a pair of black monochrome Chucks would be perfect, as they're totally all over black, from the rubber bottoms to the 'All Star' patch on the ankles, and so I headed over to Giant Tiger a few days later to grab a pair, having seen them in stock when I had bought my other pair.
They didn't have any left in my size.
No problem! I thought to myself. I'll just go to the shoe store downtown and see if they have my size there. And, delightfully, they did! The only problem was, they didn't have any of the black monochrome style --- Only the standard black and white style.
I raged to the moon and back.
Upon coming home empty handed, I suddenly had another idea: Why not just buy a pair of black monochrome Chucks from an online store? After all, I knew exactly what size I took, ((A five and a half in men's, in case you were absolutely dying to know,)) So all I had to do, really, was find an online store that was both reasonably cheap, accepted money orders as a method of payment, and were hopefully located in Canada, just so I wouldn't have to worry about the shoes arriving late or anything.
And this is where Baggins Shoes came in! *o* I discovered their site via Google almost instantly, and I was ready to order in an equally instantaneous span of time --- Not just because they were located in Canada, accepted money orders as payment, and their prices were the cheapest I could find online ... But also because they have hundreds of different Converse styles and sizes constantly in stock!
So, needless to say, I purchased a pair of monochromes, sent off the money order, and received 'em in the mail just yesterday! But that's not the only thing I received in the mail recently --- I also got the top and skirt for the Green Day concert that Amber helped me purchase online last month! >w<;
And yes, I know that ninety nine percent of my visitors consider pictures a must, so I went to the trouble yesterday to take some photos of my entire Green Day concert outfit, black monochrome Chucks and all!
... Well, minus my fishnets, because I was too lazy to put 'em on. e_e; And, obviously, on the day of the concert, I'm going to straighten and tease the shit outta my hair, as opposed to letting it hang limply in my face, but again, I was way too lazy to bother. So keep these disclaimers in mind when 'ya to click on the thumbnails below to see both a front and back view of the outfit! @_@;
Pretty fucking stellar, right?! I was so freakin' happy when I tried the skirt on for the first time and realised that it fit like an absolute dream, because, as you guys may remember, I was worried that it would be way too small for my hips and booty. >_>; Luckily, though, I was wrong!
As for the top --- Or rather, the two tops, as the mesh tee on top isn't attached to the cotton tank underneath --- It fits almost as perfectly as the skirt. Granted, the tank is slightly slimmer fitting than I would've liked, and the mesh tee is a bit looser than I imagined, but it's all good, 'cause I figured out a way to cinch the mesh tee by crossing the two long straps attached to the front around my back in an 'X' formation and then reattaching them to the opposite D rings located at the sides! I was pretty excited about that, haha, because I wasn't sure if I wanted to wear the mesh top at first, due to how baggy it looked uncinched. ^^;
Another awesome thing I'm wearing in the two photos above are two pairs of Sock It To Me socks I bought online way back in May! I never mentioned the purchase on mallorymaloney.com until now 'cause I only them to replace the black and white striped and black and red striped knee highs I've had since I was about sixteen years old ... But in the end, I was seriously glad I decided to buy them as replacements for my old faded ones, because otherwise, I'd have to wear said old faded ones with my brand new Green Day concert outfit. Whew! #_#;
Originally I planned to wear a pair of black and red striped thigh highs I bought off eBay, which I mentioned back in June --- But since I'm not going to be wearing my Demonia boots to the concert anymore, and since I dislike the look of thigh highs unless they're paired with a knee high boot, it's a good thing I bought the Sock It To Me socks, as well!
Another awesome thing about my Green Day concert outfit is the fact that the tank that's worn underneath the mesh tee is totally covered in botched English phrases, such as:
'DEVIL PUNKS'
'*SNIFFIN' GLUE ...'
'Mark P's the editior Steve Mick's a writer, one'
'And if you don't like the mag, it up you arse.'
'Also, sticking things'
And other magnificent Engrish gems, all of which can be seen by clicking the two thumbnails below to view a couple of photos I took of the front and back of the tank in full size. >w<
Continuing along with the Green Day discussion vein, I have a few more things to share! One of them is the fact that the same Green Day concert I keep rambling on about is now only twenty seven days away, which I find absolutely exhilarating, considering that I've been counting down the days since there were one hundred and eighty, haha! *_*;
Another is a short story about a can of energy drink that I bought the other day. No, I haven't started consuming caffeine again, ((Not a fucking chance, I'd rather use cocaine then get back on that shit,)) But this particular can of energy drink was simply too awesome to pass up --- Purely because it featured Green Day on the front, ROTFL.
I wanted a slushie one disgustingly hot afternoon, but since the convenience store basically next door to my place doesn't sell them, I decided to hit one I don't normally visit, instead. Since I wasn't totally familiar with this new store's layout, I circled around the entire perimeter, looking for the slushie machine, when I suddenly spotted it: An entire row of Full Throttle energy drinks with Green Day on the front of them.
I instantly grabbed one to buy, ((Along with the slushie I had wanted, after realising that I had passed the machine without noticing it on my way in,)) And as soon as I got home, I immediately brought the can to the sink, placed a towel over it, punched two evenly spaced holes in the bottom of the can's rim with a sharp nail and a hammer, and then drained the entire thing out into a massive beer mug. ((I wanted to drain the entire thing right down the drain, but alas, I've never been able to justify throwing out perfectly good food or drink ... Even the caffeine loaded kind.))
When I was done that, I rinsed out and dried the can out, and I was left with an empty can that looked totally untouched, as if it were still full --- Perfect for displaying on top of the shelving unit in my room, bwahaha. >w<; Click the thumbnail below to view a full size photo of the very striking Full Throttle can in full size!
And the last Green Day related tidbit I wanted to share was the fact that I was recently featured in a fan made music video created to go along with a fan made Green Day medley! ^o^
If you follow me on Twitter, you may recall me mentioning the fact that I had spent three hours recording footage for said music video back in June --- But the video wasn't fully completed until just last week! Now that it's up, though, go ahead and check it out over on YouTube by clicking on the thumbnail below ... And lemme know what you think of the music video after you've watched it! ^_~ ((And no glossing over it, or you'll miss the three short times I'm featured! =_=))
And before I end this entry, there's one more ((Non Green Day)) Topic I wanted to mention: My birthday! 29 July, in exactly seven days, which is, of course, splendid, but there's something decidedly unsplendid about this fact, as well: My birthday falls on a Thursday.
That's right, the very day that a new Updates/Blog entry is usually posted. x_X; Obviously, I don't fancy the idea of typing away in front of my computer for my entire birthday, so obviously, there's not going to be a new entry until the beginning of the next month --- 5 August, to be exact. +_+;
I hate to do this to you guys yet again, but I'd like to think I'm kinda making it up to you all by posting such a massive entry today. Hopefully you guys think so, too. x_x; If not, though, then feel free to not wish me a happy birthday when you comment! Tit for tat, yeah? ^_^
... Wait! I changed my mind. Please don't omit any birthday wishes from your comment! T_T;
